CYO Basketball
CYO Basketball in Brantford, known as the Brantford Boys CYO Basketball Association, offers various programs for boys aged 5 to 18. Founded in 1956, it aims to provide a positive experience in basketball, focusing on teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development.
The association runs both House League and Rep League programs. The House League is divided into Junior (ages 5-13) and Senior (ages 14-18) groups, offering sessions from mid-October to March for juniors and mid-September to mid-November for seniors. Each participant receives a game shirt and team photo, with a registration cost of $175 per player (Brantford CYO) (Brantford CYO).
The Rep League, branded as Brantford Hawks, selects players from the House League through tryouts. These teams compete in leagues, tournaments, and exhibition games, culminating in the Ontario Basketball provincial championships. Rep League costs range from $450 to $650 per player, with additional uniform costs (Brantford CYO).
Briers Basketball
The Briers Basketball Club, based in Brantford, was founded in 1978 and offers a variety of basketball programs for youth in the area. They provide both recreational and competitive opportunities, including introductory programs, skill development sessions, and a development league. The club emphasizes community involvement and is supported by volunteers, many of whom are former players or coaches at various levels.
The programs cover a wide range of age groups, from young children to teenagers, and include a Rep League for more competitive play. The club’s mission is to foster a love for basketball while promoting teamwork and skill development.
